rpics - more from Mindo

We`re making the most of some rainy weather. A great bird walk this morning with an excellent guide, Julia, recommended by Sally Gould - saw 59 species, including a crested Guan and Guayaquil woodpecker. Couldn´t get good pics of any. We saw the birds below on our own, right in town: white-necked Jacobin hbird, lemon-rumped tanager (with blue-grey tanager), and fawn-breasted tanager. The first and second shots were at a hostal where we´ll spend Fri and Sat nights. Doing a pre-dawn cock-of-the-rock trip tomorrow.



Only Dana can find a chocolate factory in a birding town. We just took their tour.....

...capped off by a brownie that D says is the best she ever tasted - despite the expression.

  1. Best brownie? Who knew? That's not something I would associate Ecuador with. I wonder if the Jacobin bird is named after the French revolutionary Jacobins' outfits? (see the guy on left):
