Salento (gateway to the Valle de Corcora), from the mirador, at sunset.

Guambiano guys at the Silvia market.

Guambiano woman spinning. They are one of the most traditional indigenous peoples in South America, maintaining their own language and dress, using rudimentary tools and excelling at weaving.

They travel to and from the market in these chivas.

They seem very confident and congenial.

They do not like to have their pictures taken - at least for free - so the preceding were shot surreptiously, however.......

...this one obviously was not. D reached a new level of ingenuity. Not wanting to pay to take a picture, she persuaded these ladies to allow it in exchange for a song and tap dance - If You're Happy and you Know it Clap Your Hands, and Old Mill Stream, respectively. They hid the enthusiasm of their reactions remarkably well.

A scene from the main square in Popayan, aka El Ciudad Blanco. Very nice colonial city, college town, excellent hostel, one of an SA chain called Hostel Trail.
Saturated colors!! Will you go to Banos? May not be a perfect season?
